Issue/Introduction

A scenario has been identified where some tasks with mail events are stuck in progress.  There are no errors associated with these stuck events.

Environment

Identified in CA Identity Suite, Virtual Appliance Version 14.2.0

 

Virtual Appliance 14.2.0 GA

Identity Manager 14.2.0 CP2

Identity Governance 14.2.0 GA

Identity Portal 14.2.0 CP1

Operating System 14.2.0 CP20181010

Cause

Environmental issue

Resolution

If there is a problem with a direct mail host you may see errors logged like

Couldn't connect to host, port 192.168.1.1, 25; timeout -1;
   nested exception is:
   java.net.ConnectException:  Connection refused
   at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.openServer(SMTPTransport.java:1984)[javax.mail-1.5.1.jar:1.2.1]

And/Or

ERROR [com.netegrity.ims.exception.EventExceuteStateException] (Thread-27 (HonetQ-client-global-threads-27072757)) Exception:  : com.ca.identitymanager.policyxpress.exceptions.PXEnvironmentException: Error Sending Mail

However, if there is a problem as a result of an incorrectly configured mail relay point, errors may not be logged but the mail task remain stuck "In Progress".

The resolution is to configure the mail host relays correctly
