Issue/Introduction

Two different Solve regions, running on different LPARs are using the same specification parameters ($RM CONSOLES):

s CONSOLES - Console Specifications sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Type of Consoles to Acquire .................+ EXTMCS
Max Consoles to Acquire ...................... 254
Max Consoles to Retain ....................... 0

The following only apply if the Console Type is EXTMCS:

    Console Name Prefix ....................... CNSL
Restrict Console Suffix Range ............. YES  (Yes or No)
Acquire with Migration ID (default) ....... NO   (Yes or No)
Name of Migration ID Determination Exit ... NO
Subsystem Command Prefix Chars (for Exit) .

Is this supported? Any possible problem?

Environment

Release : 11.9

Component : CA SOLVE:Operations Automation for z/OS

Resolution

This is supported and the only possible downside to this configuration is limiting the number of consoles available because the consoles are shared across the Sysplex.

As both regions have specified that their consoles should have the same names, they will both be trying to use the same console pool of ZCNSL001-ZCNSL255, so they will not have the full pool available to each region.
