0226 error-status in IDMSTABX after job abended

Issue/Introduction

IDMS MAINTAIN INDEX to rebuild an index abended. In this case the job failed with a S2F3 system abend because an IPL was done while the job was running.
A second attempt to rebuild the index  fails with 0226 error status in IDMSTABX.

Resolution

Error status 0226 means there is a broken chain. Since it occurs in the rebuild index then it is in the SR8 structure. Doing an IPL while the MAINTAIN INDEX was running has corrupted the SR8 structure in the index area. The index for this set is in its own area, so to recover:

• Run a FORMAT on the index area
• Run a MAINTAIN INDEX BUILD or REBUILD FROM=MEMBERS
