Issue/Introduction

You may notice an error message of the following form in the view.log

com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'XPKusm_system_alert'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.usm_system_alert'. The duplicate key value is (1000305).

Environment

Release : 17.2

Component : CA SERVICE MANAGEMENT

Resolution

1. Shut down CA Service Catalog services, including CA Service Accounting if installed, on all nodes of the environment.

2. Increment the relevant row in usm_lastid

Example:

UPDATE usm_lastid set id = 'xxxxxxx'
WHERE name = 'system_alert_id'

where  xxxxxxx is one higher than the incremented ID noted in the error message

3. Start up the Catalog services again; it will now take a unique value for the query once more.
