CHORUS SOFTWARE MANAGERCOMMON SERVICES FOR Z/OSCommon Services
Issue/Introduction
Attempting to install CA Common Services for z/OS release 15.0 using CA CSM (Chorus Software Manager) ...aka CA MSM
The APPLY step fails with the following error and the installation fails and backs-out.
GIM54701E ** ALLOCATION FAILED FOR CFF6PLAT - IKJ56228I PATH /cai/CASoftware/CCS150/CA/ NOT IN CATALOG OR CATALOG CAN NOT BE ACCESSED.
Environment
Release : 15.0
Component : CCS390 - CA COMMON SERVICES FOR Z/OS
Cause
Missing forward slash (/) when specifying the USS Directory for the CCS Java to z/OS Services in the installation wizard
The missing forward slash, in combination with the userid under which the MSMTC task is running having a OMVS HOME directory specified, causes the problem.
A review of the MSMTC output will show the allocation of the zFS filesystem followed by the mount containing the incorrect mount path.
The mount path will not match the CFF6PLAT DDDEF that was added during the Initialize CSI step.
Resolution
Be certain to include the leading forward slash when defining the USS Directory.
Additional Information
If CA CSM is not involved in your situation, then be aware that during the initial base install of Common Services, the CCSZFS library (zFS filesystem) gets mounted to the CFF6PLAT PATH. If you still have the CCSZFS data set allocated, then review the installation job that handled the mounting of this filesystem. Refer to SAMPJCL member AW006MKD.
