Issue/Introduction

We are having issues connecting the GT Subset UI to our DB2 z/OS database, since the GT Subset UI does not allow us to provide the additional parameters needed for the database connection. As a possible work around, Broadcom Engineering recommended updating the profiles.xml file under %AppData%\Grid-Tools\ folder to include additional parameters inside the <Mechanism> tag.

Since our db2cli.ini uses the following information to connect to the DB2 DSN, which works fine in Datamaker:

I tried applying the same in profiles.xml  i.e. <Mechanism>Default</Mechanism>     was replaced by

<Mechanism>Security=SSL; SSLClientKeystoredb=C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM DATA SERVER DRIVER\cfg\<<FILE_NAME>>; SSLClientKeyStash=C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM DATA SERVER DRIVER\cfg\<<FILE_NAME>>; CurrentPackageSet=CG1VRMDW;</Mechanism>

  • When trying to connect this profile in GTSubset, we are still encountering below error message.  Can you please get back to me on the same?

FYI: I have attached the profiles.xml to this email, which has passwords stripped.

[jcc][t4][2030][11211][4.21.29] A communication error occurred during operations on the connection's underlying socket, socket input stream, or socket output stream.  Error location: Reply.fill() - socketInputStream.read (-1).  Message: Connection reset. ERRORCODE=-4499, SQLSTATE=08001

Environment

Release : 4.8

Component : CA Test Data Manager

Resolution

Defect changed into User Story US647601. Engineering has provided a patch for this enhancement; SubSet-4.9.3.0.zip.

To install the patch:
1. Extract the SubSet-4.9.3.0.zip file.
2. Replace all the old files from new in Grid-Tools/GTDataMaker folder.
e.g C:\Program Files (x86)\Grid-Tools\GTDatamaker

I was able to try the latest SubSet-4.9.5.0 patch added to the ticket, and after adding details in Additional Parameter field we are now able to connect to DB2 using GT Subset as shown below. Please go ahead and close this ticket.
