Issue/Introduction

This is a confirmation of the specifications.

PRODUCTS:  CA 2E r8.7 (COBOL)

ENVIRONMENT:  IBM i V7R3

The common I/O feedback area of the IBM i operating system referenced in Y2IOPEN, Y2IDSPFIO, Y2IPRTFIO, etc. has changed in IBM i V7R3.

The following incompatibility information is from IBM:

The "Write operation count", "Read operation count", "Write-read operation count", and "Current block count" fields in the common I/O feedback area are changed from binary 4 fields to unsigned binary 4 fields.

Applications that use these fields must be modified to accept the changed fields.

Does this change in Common I/O feedback area affect 2E r8.7?

Should we respond to this change?

Environment

Release : 8.7

Component : CA 2E

Resolution

There is no cause of concern.

The changes that IBM has carried out at V7R3 do not cause any issues in 2E.
