Issue/Introduction

The customer would like to be able to utilize the aexagentutil.exe with the /reboot command to reboot computers from tasks, but he also wants the ability to cancel that reboot (just in case).  However, he cannot find a way to cancel a reboot or the countdown that was initiated from this tool.

This is before the shutdown.exe from OS is launched.  The customer knows that he can abort shutdown.exe with the –a command.  He is referring to when the Symantec agent is still in control and is running the countdown at this point.

He tried restarting the Symantec agent, but that only restarts the countdown.  Is there a cancel/abort option that we could use in the SMP Console?

Environment

ITMS 8.1, 8.5

Resolution

As far as Tasks or other functionality available in the product that you can just "turn on" or "check" the box, there is not one that will do it for you by default.

As far as options that you could try:
  1. You can stop the Symantec Management Agent service and then removing "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Dynamic Data\PowerActions" registry key. You need to be an admin on the client machine to do that.
