Issue/Introduction

The customer mentioned that for some of his Cloud-Enabled Management (CEM) machines, a package that they just created was not downloading.

The agent logs showed the following errors:

Entry 1:
Error code: The certificate validation failed. The caller is not authorized to perform the requested operation (0x80076004)

Entry 2:
Download package sources failed: The certificate validation failed. The caller is not authorized to perform the requested operation (0x80076004)

The customer also noticed that this error "Error code: The certificate validation failed. The caller is not authorized to perform the requested operation (0x80076004)" happened when trying to get a package, client configuration or send basic inventory.

Resolution

While we were looking at possible issues, we noticed that the gateway certificates on the gateway and the client machine showed a red X because the certificate was not trusted.
We added the gateway certificate to the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" on the gateway itself and CEM Machine and the red X went away. 

The issue with "Error code: The certificate validation failed. The caller is not authorized to perform the requested operation (0x80076004)" is no longer present
