CA Automic Workload Automation - Automation Engine

Issue/Introduction

During the ZDU, less than a minute after the switch of the PWP process in ZDU step 4, the PWP crashes. Other WP processes can stop as well.

After restart of the WP processes of the target version the Automation Engine went out of the ZDU mode and the ZDU is effectively finished.
The only thing left to do is to stop the second node that is still on the base version an upgrade it.

Possible message in PWP log:
20191119/120233.132 - U00015006 System forced memory trace dump.
20191119/120233.132 - U00003631 Dump caused by:
20191119/120233.132 - U00003610 Server routine 'JPEXEC_R' received unknown message: 'EXEC_LOH'
20191119/120233.132 - U00011801 Error in Server routine 'JPEXEC_R', Server: 'AUTOMIC#WP027' AE system: 'AUTOMIC'.

Environment

The issue can happen during a ZDU starting with the base version below:

v12.0.x (all)
v12.1.0 to v12.1.5
v12.2.0 to v12.2.3
v12.3.0

Component : AUTOMATION ENGINE

Cause

This is due to a bug in the PWP that was receiving messages from WPs of the base version

Resolution

Workaround and Solution:
If you are still using one of the versions above there is a risk that you run into this issue and that the ZDU fails.
To avoid problems in your Production system, Broadcom support recommends to first do a classical/manual upgrade to one of the versions below, subsequently a future ZDU to a newer version will work again.

Fix version:

Component(s): Automation Engine

Automation.Engine 12.3.1 - Available
Automation.Engine 12.2.4 - Available
Automation Engine 12.1.6 - Available
