Can one or more TPX stand-alone images use same VSAM databases.

Issue/Introduction

Currently running one TPX as a VTAM Generic Resource with 3 TPX stand-alone started tasks. 
Can additional TPX images be brought up and using the same VSAM databases without causing problems?

Resolution

Running a stand-alone TPX image using the GR/CF VSAM databases is not recommended, however, you could in theory, use the same GR databases for any number of
stand-alone TPX images provided a different set of SMRT tables are assigned for each stand-alone TPX image AND each TPX image is running at the same maintenance level.

The downside of this configuration is that a corrupted TPX VSAM database will impact all TPX images and complicate any problem determination and solution.
