Creating and Restoring a Backup image

In Deployment Solution you can create backup image of a client computer for Windows and Linux client computers. A backup image consists of all the applications and settings that are present on the disk of the client computer. These images can be deployed only on the same computer where they were created from. Backup images should not be deployed to multiple computers. In case you want to image only a data disk (disk without operating system) or partition of a data disk, select the backup image option. The backup image cannot be distributed to other package servers through the replication process.

Launch the console

Launch the Symantec Management Console.

You can launch the console either from the Start menu of the computer or you can launch the Web console if you know the IP address of the Notification Server. For example: http://<IP address>/altiris/console

Boot the client computer to the Automation environment

Boot the client computer to automation environment using the automation folder that is installed on the client computer.

Create a backup image of the client computer

Execute the Create Image task with Back-Up image option and select the tool as the Ghost imaging tool.

Boot the client computer to the production mode
