What is Sysprep utility?

Sysprep is a Microsoft system preperation utility. It is useful in performing automated Windows installations and allows creating  unique security identifier (SID). If you’re deploying computer images to multiple computers in a network, then it is essential that you first run the Sysyprer utility to generalize the computer.

Benefits of creating an image using Sysprep:

Following are some of the benefits of using Sysprep for creating an image:

  • Removes computer-specific information from the Windows image, including the computer security identifier (SID).
    This feature lets you capture the image and apply it to other computers. 
  • Uninstalls computer-specific drivers from the image.
