IT Management Suite version 7.6 HF7

Starting from IT Management Suite 7.6 Hotfix 7, Symantec Management Platform and related solutions support client computers that use OS X 10.11 El Capitan.

Resolution

List of supported solutions

IT Management Suite provides support for client functionality for the OS X 10.11 El Capitan.

The Full Support functionality is limited to the following components, solutions, and features of the IT Management Suite:

  • Network Discovery
  • Symantec Management Agent for UNIX, Linux, and Mac on client computers
  • Execution of tasks and jobs on client computers
  • Deployment Solution
  • Inventory Solution
  • Patch Management
  • Software Management
  • Virtual Machine Management*

Note:

The components and solutions that are not explicitly listed in the list are not supported. The usage of these components and solutions might lead to undesirable outcomes.

 

Upgrading managed computers to Mac OS X 10.11

Note the following steps before you upgrade the managed computers that have Max OS X 10.10 or earlier to Mac OS X 10.11:

  •  Upgrade IT Management Suite to 7.6 HF7.
  • Upgrade solution plug-ins and agents on the managed computers with Mac OS X 10.10 or the earlier to the IT Management Suite 7.6 HF7 version.
  • Upgrade the managed computers to Max OS X 10.11.

Warning:

It is not recommended that first you upgrade Max OS X to 10.11 and then upgrade IT Management Suite to version 7.6 HF7.

 

For unmanaged computers, upgrade IT Management Suite to 7.6 HF7 and then rollout Symantec Management Agent to computers with Max OS X 10.11.

Description

The Boot To Task option fails to boot a Mac client computer

The Boot To Task option fails to boot a Mac client computer because of the System Integrity  Protection feature from Mac OS X 10.11.

Workaround

Run the csrutil disable command from recovery mode.

Description

Data classes are not collected on Mac OS X 10.11 computers.

The HW_DiskPartition and HW_StorageToDiskPartition data classes are not collected on Mac OS X 10.11 computers that have SCSI disks

Issue

Description

Command line installation instructions might not work in OS X 10.11.

Command line installation instructions, which are generated for the packages that are imported based on the rules from DmgAutoRunSignature.txt do not work in OS X 10.11.

Notify user when the task is available alert is not displayed.

Even after enabling the Notify when the task is available setting, the notification alert is not displayed on the client computer.

Virtual Machine Management does not support creation of a Guest OS with the new computers that have Mac OS X 10.11.

Virtual Machine Management does not support creation of a Guest OS with the new computers that have Mac OS X 10.11, but supports upgrade of the existing computers that have Mac OS X 10.10 or earlier.
