Information Centric Tagging (ICT)

After new installation or reinstallation of the ICT client, when you classify a file with the global protector, an error message appears.

"Information Centric Tagging Global Protector has no valid license".

Classification option will not show in "Save As" option for supported application.

Cause

This can happen if the ICT client is not able to connect to the ICT server webservice. 

Resolution

1) Open the registry and go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Watchful Software\RightsWATCH". From right pane look for a key 'WebService'. Check the value is 'http://<ict server fqdn>/ICT/Webservice'. In this case it is assumed that ICT server is configured on http protocol and webservice (classification page) is configured as Webservice. To make sure, you are using correct URL, you can browse http://<ict server fqdn>/ICT/Webservice/classification.asmx from the affected client system and check whether it is opening or not. If it not opening cross check ICT server IIS configuration.

2) If the system is 64 bit, then look for the same reg key mentioned in the step no 1 in ''HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Watchful Software\RightsWATCH' also for the correct ICT server webservice URL in value.

3) Go to the ICT installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Symantec\Information Centric Tagging) and edit the file 'rw-config.ini'  in notepad and check ICT URL and license key mentioned properly or not.

4) Add the ICT url in local internet trusted site.
