Issue/Introduction

You have created a pop-up notification in a response rule containing a custom text message, but the text does not fit the text field of the pop-up window. 

You want to know the character limits of the text field in the endpoint agent popup window.

Resolution

  • In current DLP versions (15.8+), the maximum number of the lines is 6 and the number of the characters per line is 48 characters.
  • The input box on the Enforce console has the same 500-character limit, but only the first 286 characters will be displayed in popup window.
  • The maximum number of the lines and characters per line in popup window are hard-coded and cannot be adjusted from Enforce console.
  • As of 15.8 MP3 there is a bug where if two HTML links are used the character count in the second links HTML syntax is being included in the total count when determining if the message should be truncated or not. To work around this issue, use a link shortener or decrease the total amount of text.
