Issue/Introduction

Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
Detection Server 

Receiving error when attempting to start Symantec DLP Services.

chown: invalid user: '@service.user.name@'
su: user @service.user.name@ does not exist

Environment

RHEL

Cause

This generally happens when the RPMs are installed, but the configuration utility inside the ../Protect/install folder has not been run

Resolution

  1. Change to ../Protect/install directory in your Symantec DLP installation
  2. Run the configuration utility to complete installation of DLP
