You can set up the VMware environment for NSX or vShield, depending on your requirements. Ensure that you have administrator privileges for vCenter, and NSX or vShield.
To deploy the Symantec Datacenter Security Service for VMware NSX, which is Virtual Machine Threat Protection, you must set up the VMware environment by installing and configuring the following VMware components:
Deploy vCenter security appliance (vCSA)
Deploy NSX Manager
Register vCenter with NSX Manager
Create a data center
Create a cluster and add ESXi hosts to the cluster
Create a distributed switch and add ESXi hosts to the distributed switch
Install host preparation
Deploy Guest Introspection service

To deploy the Symantec Datacenter Security Service for VMware vShield Manager, you must set up the VMware environment by installing and configuring the following VMware components:
Deploy vCenter security appliance (vCSA)
Deploy vShield Manager
Register vCenter with vShield Manager
Create a data center
Create a cluster and add ESXi hosts to the cluster
Install vShield Endpoint Service for each host to be protected
Configure VM Agent settings for each host to be protected.
To configure the VM Agent settings, on the vCenter thick client, select the ESXi host, and go to the Configuration tab > Agent VM settings > Properties and provide the details to configure the agent settings.
