Issue/Introduction

After analyzing customer feedback and the deployment status of our products, we have decided to end the sale of our Information Centric Security products and move them into sustaining mode beginning on April 6, 2020:

  • Symantec Information Centric Encryption (ICE) Service & Key Store Virtual Appliance
  • Symantec Information Centric Tagging (ICT) Software
  • Symantec Information Centric Security Module (ICSM)

Our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers is as strong as ever and we understand that these changes may require an adjustment to your deployment plans. The purpose of this article is to explain what this all means and provide consistent guidelines for the availability of support for these products.

Resolution

What does this mean for you?

End of sale means you will not be able to purchase any new subscriptions or support services for these products. You will only be able to renew your existing subscription and/or support services.

Sustaining mode means we will maintain version 15.5 feature levels for these products and provide critical bug fixes and minimal viable platform support. We will not release any new features.

Questions? Find out more.

Here are some commonly asked questions regarding the changes to ICE, ICT and ICSM:

What does sustaining mode mean?

  • No new features will be released.
  • Version 15.5 feature levels will be maintained.
  • Fixes for critical defects (bugs) will be provided.
  • Minimal viable platform support will be provided.

Does this mean Symantec is no longer supporting these products?

No. We will continue to support customers through the end of their contracts as defined above.

Will Symantec still fix bugs in these products?

Yes. We will provide critical bug fixes for ICE, ICT and ICSM.

Will Symantec still release new features for these products?

No. We will not release any new features or functionality, however, we will continue to support version 15.5 feature levels for ICE, ICT and ICSM.

Is there a suggested migration path?

No. We will not be able to provide a migration path to replacement products that supersede ICE, ICT and ICSM. With this in mind, customers should start exploring alternative solutions that provide data classification and rights management capabilities.

What happens if I do nothing?

Customers with subscription licenses can continue using their products through the end of their

contracts and customers with perpetual licenses can continue using their products indefinitely.
