User cannot launch OneClick Java Console

Issue/Introduction

When clicking on the 'Start Console'  link the oneclick.jnlp downloads and will not launch
   the console due to the .jnlp file extension not being associated with Java Web Start.

 

Environment

Release : 10.x

Component : SPCOCK : Spectrum OneClick

Resolution

Associate the .jnlp file to the javaws.exe on the system that the console is being launched from.

Click On: More Apps




Click On: Look for another app on this PC

Note: Check the 'Always use this app to open .jnlp files' so you will not need to perform this step next time


Navigate To: the Javaws.exe binary on the system

ex. C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_192\bin\javaws.exe



The console should now launch as normal

Additional Information

This will update the registry under

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jnlp\OpenWithList
