Issue/Introduction

After upgrading AE to 12.3 we tried to modify an entry in UC_EX_HOSTCHAR
Unfortunately, the object could not be saved because of the following kind of entries, for example:

Key             | VALUE 1
<BS2000> | DEFAULT
<UNIX>      | DEFAULT

Can these entries which do not comply with the object name syntax (Scope: "Host - each host name") be safely deleted?

Cause

Probably wrong default lines from an old AE Version 10.x or 11.x had been created using the Java GUI which was more permissive.
AWI does not allow to save an Object is some lines contain unauthorized characters in the Key Column (like "<" and ">").
A Warning Icon is show as below to show the wrong lines.

Environment

Release : 12.3

Component : Automic Web Interface

Resolution

In order to be able to save UC_EX_HOSTCHAR, you will need to first remove not compliant entries from it.

For example:
<TYPE> | DEFAULT

After that, you will be able to save the modifications on UC_EX_HOSTCHAR.

Additionally, since version 12.1 you can have Wildcards in the Key values, like for example WIN*, UNIX* , * and so on.

This may help reduce the size of the VARA Object and keep new entries from being created once an agent starts.
