Data Connector import rules will provide a preset list of available resource lookup keys based on the selected resource type. For example, the Computer resource type includes the following out of box resource lookup keys: Barcode, Computer Name/Domain, MAC Address, Resource GUID, Resource Name, Serial Number, System Number, TCP/IP Address. The user can add to this (but out of box resource lookup keys cannot be removed) by creating a custom resource lookup key. The following instructions describe how to do this.
In any Data Connector import rule, new or old, that use the resource type from step 5, in its "Resource lookup key" drop-down list, the new resource lookup key is now available for use. WARNING: If a data class is used, from step 7, that contains duplicate or non-unique data, records or rows will be skipped during the import as the import rule will be unable to match up the correct record to create or update. The user should therefore be careful in creating a custom resource lookup key and ensure that whatever data class is used meets these requirements.
