How do I configure a Notification Server site in order to add the Notification Server to a Hierarchy?
In order for Notification Server to participate in Hierarchy, there must be at least one package server available within the Notification Server site.
When you attempt to add a Notification Server to a hierarchy, the Add Hierarchy Node Wizard checks for the presence of a suitable package server. If no suitable package server is available, the Add Hierarchy Node Wizard does not let you add the Notification Server to the hierarchy and displays the following error message:
The target Notification Server does not have a package server within its site boundary. In order for package distribution over hierarchy to work, it is required that each Notification Server participating in Hierarchy have at least one package server within its site boundary.
You may experience this issue if the Notification Server that you are adding and the package server that you want to use are in different subnets. To resolve the issue, you need to ensure that the package server is assigned to the same site as the Notification Server. If necessary, you can create a new site and configure it as required.
