Importing computers with Data Connector

To import computers with Data Connector, you have to correctly set up the column mappings. Computers require specific resource lookup keys settings on the New Resource Import Export Rule page.

If you use different settings, computer resources are imported incorrectly, and are not fully functional. For example, those imported subnets might not have the resource key in the CMDB. This leads to the situation where resources are not merged in the database.

To import computers with Data Connector:

  1. In the Symantec Management Console, on the Settings menu, click All Settings.
  2. In the left pane, right click Settings > Notification Server > Connector > Import/Export Rules, and then click New > Resource Import Export Rule.
  3. In the right pane, select your data source, and under Column mappings use the following settings:

    Resource type Computer
    Resource lookup key Computer Name/Domain
    Name Use the appropriate column from your data source.
    Domain Use the appropriate column from your data source.
  4. Set up other required mappings, and then click Save changes.
