Issue/Introduction
Exact steps on how to take a trace of the xcomd service for CA XCOM for Windows. Take an XCOMD trace only if requested by BROADCOM technical support. Setting this trace option may generate large amounts of trace data.
Environment
Release: CA XCOM Data Transport for Windows Component: XCPCNT
Resolution
Turn on the xcomd trace:
Start the GUI: Start->All Programs->CA XCOM Data Transport->GUI
Select the Global Parameters Tab
Select the down arrow on the Trace Bar
For the Component drop down: select XCOM Service
For the Component Trace File: enter C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\XCOM\trace\trace.trc
Select the radio button for Trace Details
Let the Trace Path default to C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\XCOM\trace
Click top right Update
Click OK on XCOMN3556I
Close the GUI
Open a Command Prompt window and change into the %XCOM_HOME% directory, run "card3 on"
Recycle the xcomdsrv service - net stop xcomdsrv, net start xcomdsrv
Reproduce the problem.
Turn off the xcomd trace:
Start the GUI: Start->All Programs->CA XCOM Data Transport->GUI Tab
Select the Global Parameters Tab
Select the down arrow on the Trace Bar
For the Component drop down: select XCOM Service
Component Trace File: C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\XCOM\trace\trace.trc or C:\Program Files\CA\XCOM\trace\trace.trc
Select the radio button for Trace Off
Let the Trace Path default
Click top right Update
Click OK on XCOMN3556I
Close the GUI
Open a Command Prompt window and change into the %XCOM_HOME% directory, run "card3 off"
Recycle the xcomdsrv service - net stop xcomdsrv, net start xcomdsrv
Copy trace.trc from the address below and send in the trace file to BROADCOM support.
C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\XCOM\trace\trace.trc or C:\Program Files\CA\XCOM\trace\trace.trc
