Windows Error Message: The Recycle Bin on C:\ Is Corrupt or Invalid. Do You Want to Empty the Recycle Bin?

While this error message can occur after an imaging process, the error is a common Microsoft operating system error and probably not related to any Symantec product or operation.

DESCRIPTION :
Preform these steps to empty the contents of the recycle bin by deleting the files and the recycle bin folder:
 

1.    Click Start and type cmd in the Start Search box. (Windows 7 users: Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.) 

2.    At the command prompt enter the following line and press Enter:

 rd /s c:\$recycle.bin

3.    When prompted to confirm the deletion type Y and press Enter to confirm.

     Note:The message "The directory is not empty" may display in the command window. Ignore this message as it is related to the creation of a new directory. The files are removed.

4.    Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

A new recycle directory will have been created.
