Description:

The Copybook Import Job will receive a U4038 abend If the copybook being imported is 100 lines long and the last line in the copybook happens to be a 49 level. Details of the abend are as follows

Importing a DCLGEN is abending with the following
SUBSCRIPT RANGE ERROR IN DBXRCIO
IBM0421S ONCODE=520 The SUBSCRIPTRANGE condition was raised.
From entry point DBXRCIO at statement 2278 at compile unit offset +00002962 at entry offset +00002962 at address 1B6862B2.

Solution:

Change the allocation size parameter from its default value of 100 to 200 in the PARMFILE DD * for the DBXRCIN program
