This article provides steps to manually remove SMSMSE console from a Windows 7 computer. Prior to using these steps it is recommended to attempt to remove SMSMSE by using the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.
WARNING: In the next steps you will edit the Windows registry. Back up the registry before you make any changes to it, because incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify only the registry keys that are specified.

1. Remove registry keys.
a. Exit all programs.
b. Open regedit and remove the following folders if they are present:

64-bit Operating System:

32-bit Operating System:

2. Remove file system folders.
64-bit Operating System:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\SMSMSE
C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\CMaF
32-bit Operating System:
C:\Program Files\Symantec\SMSMSE
C:\Program Files\Symantec\CMaF
NOTE: These paths are the default locations; adjust the paths if you installed the program into a different location.
3. Delete SMSMSE icon from desktop.
4. Delete Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange from the Start menu.
