Environment
Microsoft Windows* 2003 64-bit
.NET* 2.0
Microsoft SQL* 2000
Notification Server 6.0.6074 SP3
Patch Management Solution 6.2

Cause

  • The method of upgrading by bringing up a new Notification Server from scratch with the latest version of all solutions and then pointing it at an old database populated by old solutions is unsupported.
  • Using unsupported x64 processor with 64-bit environment (Windows 2003 64-bit
.NET 2.0) that is not supported

The State column of the the db.item table is empty. Microsoft object is unable to load the specified GUID:{1bf89561-394a-42e1-88b2-bae5f42874cc.

Resolution

Despite that fact that this is an unsupported method of upgrading Patch Management Solution 6.2 and is an unsupported enviroment by entering the content of the State column all the related errors disappeared. Feedback from the customer stated that everything was working correctly.
