QuestionI would like to remove the Embedded BootWorks partition. How do I do this?
Answer
The first option is to boot into the EBW (Embedded BootWorks) partition.
- Press Ctrl + C as soon as you see the Altiris splash screen.
- Press Y to break out of the batch file.
- Type in "startnet.bat". This will start the network and should map the network drive.
- Type in "F:\" to navigate to the network drive.
- Find the file BWINST.EXE and run it with a -U for uninstall.
Here is an example:
BWINST.EXE -U
You can accomplish the same task by letting the computer run bootwork.exe, which will return a "Hit F2 for diagnostics mode"
- Press F2.
- Exit this menu. This will return you to a DOS level prompt.
- Type in "F:\" to navigate to the network drive.
- Find the file bwinst.exe and run it with a -U for uninstall.
Here is an example:
BWINST.EXE -U
A third option is to copy the bwinst.exe -u.
- It will be up a prompt saying that you are about to uninstall the Altiris Partition BootWorks. Select Yes.
- Reboot the client.
