This article details the steps to remove the PGP Desktop 8.x plug-in when using Outlook 2007. Outlook 2007 is supported in PGP Desktop 9.6 and above.
When using Outlook 2007 on a system which has had PGP Desktop 8.x previously installed, it may be necessary to remove the PGP Mail plug-in from Outlook. You may receive a message similar to the following in Outlook:
PGP Plugin cannot be loaded...
When PGP Desktop 8.x is installed, a PGP Mail plug-in is added to your Outlook toolbar. This plug-in allows the convenience of clicking a button to encrypt, decrypt, and sign your email messages.
To remove the PGP Desktop 8.x plugin:
- Open Outlook.
- Click Trust Center from the Toolsmenu.
- Click Add-ins.
- Below the Add-ins window, click the drop-down arrow next to Manage: and select Exchange Client Extensions.
- Click the Go button. The installed Add-ins are displayed.
- If there is an pgpExch.dll entry, remove the checkmark and click OK.
- Restart Outlook.
