This article details the software update options available and the steps to apply updates to a PGP Universal Server cluster.
Warning: It is not possible to use upgrade files on all major releases. Some releases such as 2.5 and 2.7 require a clean installation of the new version and then restoring a backup of the previous version. Please refer to the PGP Universal Upgrade Guide and the latest PGP Universal Server readme for detailed upgrading information. |
After the software update is downloaded, the update is installed by clicking on the Install icon. The list on the Software Updates card shows all updates available and installed for your PGP Universal Server. Updates have to be installed in the appropriate order. After the update is installed, its Install icon is disabled.
The list shows the name of the update, the version, the size, the date of the last action for that update, and the Install icon.
Software Updates
Updates for the server are downloaded from your account on the Symantec Licensing Portal.
To upload a file:
After completing the software update file upload, the update is installed by clicking on the Install icon. The list on the Software Updates card shows all updates available and installed for your PGP Universal Server. Updates have to be installed in the appropriate order. After the update is installed, its Install icon is disabled.
PGP Universal Server Cluster Updates
Updates to the PGP Universal Server software are not propagated among cluster members.
When applying updates to a PGP Universal Server in a cluster, each server must update their own software.
Caution: If you update the software of one member of a cluster, you must update the software of all of the others as well. While the software updates are applied to the PGP Universal Server, the cluster members will temporarily be running different versions of the software, but they will continue to share cluster data. |
Unless you are utilizing the option to Automatically Install updates, use the following steps to manually install updates.
