Problem

Packages won’t download to the agents or to package servers and the NS.Package refresh runs continually.

Environment
Notification Server 6.0.6074 (SP3)

Cause
When the NS.Package refresh task is running, the packages are not available to be downloaded.

We don't know why the NS.Package refresh task is running continually. It is a possibly a Microsft Windows glitch.

Resolution

  1. Stop the NS.Package.Refresh task by clicking Start > Control Panel, right-clicking NS.Package Refresh, and clicking End Task.
  2. Let the NS.Package refresh task stop.
  3. Restart the Notification Server.
  4. Run the NS.Package.Refresh task by clicking Start > Control Panel, right-clicking NS.Package Refresh, and clicking Run.
  5. Let the NS.Package refresh task finish.
  6. Run the NS.Package.Distribution Point Update Schedule task by clicking Start > Control Panel, right-clicking NS.Package.Distribution Point Update Schedule , and clicking Run.
  7. Let the NS.Package.Distribution Point Update Schedule task finish.
  8. Go to one of the computers where the packages were not being updated and in the Altiris Agent Details screen; click the Update Configuration button.
  9. Go to the Altiris Agent screen and verifty that the packages are updating in the Software Delivery tab.
