Issue/Introduction

How do I run inventory tasks in Macintosh* Task Queue App? Each time I try to run a task, I get the following error:

Command finished with error code: (1) Operation not permitted

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Resolution

There are two types of Mac tasks:

1. Scheduled (these end in "daily")
2. Unscheduled.

In the task queue application, it is not permitted to run the scheduled tasks. If you click on one, you will see that the green run button is grayed out.

If you run an unscheduled task, you will get the operation not permitted error. This is because the inventory tasks require authentication. Even though you/re an administrator, you still must authenticate.

To authenticate, click the lock icon in the lower left of the task queue window. It will prompt you for an admin password. After authenticating, you should be able to run the unscheduled tasks without error.
