Question
How do I manually uninstall Notification Server?

Answer

  1. Stop all Altiris related services on the server:
    1. Altiris Agent
    2. Altiris Carbon copy
    3. Altiris Client Message Dispatcher
    4. Altiris Client Service
    5. Altiris NS Receiver
    6. Altiris Service
(Note: Additional services may be present if additional solutions have been installed)
  2. Using Add or Remove Programs from Control Panel, remove all Altiris related programs. Start with Altiris solutions before removing Altiris Notification Server. If the Notification Server uninstall is unavailable, it may be removed using the following command line:
    msiexec /x "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Setup Files\NS\Altiris_NS.msi" /qb-!
Using the command line will cause the server to reboot, please wait for the reboot before continuing to the next step.
  3. Delete the Altiris directory from the hard drive. By default this is C:\Program Files\Altiris.
  4. Reboot the server.
  5. Access the registry and delete the following keys if they still exist:
    1. HKLM > Software > Altiris > Express and remove all keys except Boot Disk Creator, console, Winpk.log (these will exist if Deployment Server is installed).
    2. Delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Userdata\S-1-5-18\Products\ any of the IDs that correspond to Altiris.
    3. Delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\.
    4. Delete HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services any of the Altiris services.
