The Windows Installer ForceReboot and ScheduleReboot actions prompt the user to reboot the system. The ScheduleReboot action prompts the user for a reboot of the system at the end of the installation. The ForceReboot action prompts the user for a reboot during the installation.
The REBOOT public property can be used to suppresses certain prompts for a reboot. Use Wise for Windows Installer to accomplish this:
Force—With this option, the UI always prompts the user with an option to reboot at the end. If there is no UI, the system automatically reboots at the end of the installation.
Suppress—With this option, the prompt for a reboot at the end of the installation is suppressed. The UI prompts the user with an option to reboot during the installation whenever it encounters the ForceReboot action. If there is no UI, the system automatically reboots at each ForceReboot.
ReallySuppress—With this option, all reboot prompts, both at the end of the installation and during the installation, initiated by the ForceReboot action are suppressed.
More information can be found in the Microsoft's Windows Installer's SDK by searching for REBOOT Property and the ForceReboot and ScheduleReboot actions in the index.
