I have several Wise Package Studio Bundle serial numbers. How do I add them to the database without having to manually enter each one during the installation?

When you install Wise Package Studio, only specify one of your serial numbers. After the installation is complete, you can add additional serial numbers using a .wlc file. A .wlc file is just a text file with a list of all your serial numbers each on its own line. After creating the .wlc file you can import it and assign users licenses by performing the following:

Import a .wlc file

  1. From Workbench, go to Edit > User Licensing.
  2. Click Add Serial Numbers.
  3. Click Browse.
  4. Browse to your .wlc file. A list of your serial numbers is displayed at the bottom of the Add Serial Number dialog.
  5. Click OK. The total number of licenses is displayed at the top of the User Licensing Setup dialog, and the number of available licenses is displayed at the bottom.
  6. Click Close.

Add user to Wise Package Studio and assign licenses

  1. Go to Edit > Security, to import groups and assign user licensing.
  2. Create a new group by right-clicking on the list of groups on the left-hand side and select Add > Group.
  3. Enter the name of the group in the Name column. If you want your users to login to Wise Package Studio with their NT Credentials, the name of the group must match the name of an NT group that they are part of.

To add individual users one at a time:
  4. Add each user by right-clicking the group and select Add > User.
  5. The Assign User Licensing dialog appears. Mark the check box for the appropriate license for this user.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Specify the appropriate information on the right for each user.

To import an entire NT group:
  8. Right-click the group and select Add > Import NT Group.
  9. Select the appropriate Domain and NT group.
  10. Mark the check box Assign serial numbers after import.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Select the licenses to assign to users.
  13. Click OK.
  14. The users will be added to the group specified. If there are more users than licenses, users that were not assigned a license will be added to the Unassigned group.
