Issue/Introduction

Can a PXE Server be made into a standalone server so that it only has local boot menus and does not communicate with the ITMS or GSS servers?

Resolution

PXE Servers have to communicate to the Deployment Server and the PXE Manager to function correctly.  Preventing the communication of the PXE Server to the DS and PXE Manager will cause the PXE Server to not know what is going on.  It will continue to provide a PXE boot menu, but it won't have any idea what the current boot status is for each of the clients it responds to.  So disconnecting a PXE Server from the DS and PXE Manager is not recommended, not supported, and not a best practice.
