Question
What can be added or changed in the Coresettings.config file? This file contains most of the settings for the whole of Notification Server.

Answer

In version 6.0 the coresettings.config file is found in Program Files\Altiris\notification server\config. It can also be found by launching the NS Configurator.

<customSetting key="GenerateNSUNCPackageCodebases" type="local" value="1" />

This will prevent the Notification Server's UNC codebase from being published.

<customSetting key="MaxAgentDownloadTryingTimeMins" type="local" value="0" />

If set to 0 then normal download behaviour applies. If greater than 0, then the amount specified equals the number of minutes before codebases of Package Servers in the same site as the NS are returned.

The default is 0 (disabled).

<customSetting key="PreferredNSHost" type="local" value="putTheNameOrIPHere" />

This alters the name published in the codebases for the NS.
