Configuring the ESM data collector

You must configure the ESM data collector before you use the ESM data collector on a computer where Data Processing Service (DPS) is installed. The ESM data collector must be associated with one or more ESM managers.

Before you configure the ESM data collector, you must provide the details about the ESM components that the data collector is configured to communicate with. At any point of time after you configure the ESM data collector, you can re-configure the settings to make changes to the data collector.

You can configure the ESM Data Collector components from the Component Settings dialog box. Do the following to launch the Component Settings dialog box from the System Topology > Map View:

  • Go to Settings > System Topology > Map View.

  • Right-click the site and select Edit Settings.

Do the following to launch the Component Settings dialog box from the System Topology > Grid View:

  • Go to Settings > System Topology > Grid View.

  • Right-click Data Collection Service and select Edit Settings.

See Modifying the settings of a component .

The ESM-specific configuration options are available for a DPS only if the following parameters are fulfilled:

  • The DPS has the Data Collection Service role.

  • You have designated the DPS for ESM data collection.

See Configuring the basic Data Processing Service settings.

ESM data collector configuration involves the following steps:

  • Specify details about the ESM components in the ESM - Manager dialog box.

  • Specify data collector behavioral settings in ESM - General dialog box.

  • Change the DPS configuration for better performance of the ESM data collector.
