Backing up the Control Compliance Suite Assessment Manager (CCS AM) database.

Backing up the data for CCS AM only requires the backing up of the SQL DB.  Nothing needs to be done with ADAM or Application server services.

Note: The database may be named CCSAM_DB or RAM_Db depending on the version of CCS AM version.

  1. On the machine CCS AM is installed on go to services and stop the CCS Assessment Manger service.
  2. Go to the SQL host machine and open MS SQL Server Management Studio using the account you installed CCS AM with, then expand the Databases tree.
  3. Online DB backup method: Right click on the DB, go to tasks select Back Up.  Select Full for Recovery model, and Full for Backup type, select where you want the .bak file saved and click OK.  When complete restart the CCS AM service on the AM server.
  4. Offline DB backup method: Rightclick on the DB, go to Tasks, then select Take Offline.  Once you get the success message close the window then right click on the DB again, go to Tasks, and then select Detach.  In the new window select Drop Connection, but not Update Statistics, then click OK.  Next browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQLServer\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA and copy both the CCSAM_DB_log.LDF and copy the CCSAM_DB.mdf files to your desired back location. There is no .ndf file.  Once copied go back to SQL Studio, right click on Databases, select attach.  In the new window click add and then browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQLServer\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA and select the CCSAM_DB.mdf file and click ok.  The next window will be populated with the DB information, click OK.  Now restart the CCS AM service on the AM host machine.
