How can I get the Symantec Management Agent (SMA) installed onto my client PCs?

Resolution

To do a push install to single computers from within the Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server) console:

  1. In the Symantec Management Console, on the Actions menu, click Agents/Plug-ins > Push Symantec Management Agent.
    On the Symantec Management Agent Install page, on the Install Agent tab, under Roll out Agent to Computers, choose the computers on which to install Symantec Management Agent, and then click Install.

...You will be prompted to select Install options. Once you finish and click Proceed with Install It could take up to 10 minutes or more to install the Agent.

 

To do a push install to a target (group of machines) from within the Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server) console:

  1. In the Symantec Management Console, on the Actions menu, click Agents/Plug-ins > Push Symantec Management Agent.
  2. By default the View section select "Targets" and then click the "Apply to" and choose the Target that includes the computers on which to install Symantec Management Agent. In most cases, the "Windows Computers with no Symantec Management Agent Installed Target" would be selected and added.  Then select OK.
  3. Add a desired schedule and select "Save Changes".
  4. Enable the policy by setting it to ON.
