Resolution

Within the Device Management Configuration Editor, an "Application Lock" profile can be created for targeted iOS devices.  This configuration type is for use only with "Supervised" devices that have been provisioned through Apple Configurator.

"Application Lock" allows administrators to force the application into the foreground on an iOS device.  It puts an iOS device into a "kiosk" mode where only the forced application is run on the display.

To use "Application Lock", you must:

  • Download and install the program Apple Configurator
  • Pre-approve and install all applications you want to run on the iOS device
  • "Supervise" the device
  • Enroll and manage each device through SMM
  • Create an "Application Lock" configuration specifying the bundle ID of one of the pre-approved/installed applications.
  • Target the "Application Lock" configuration to the intended "Supervised" devices
