On October 6th, in an effort to simplify and improve our customers’ experience, Symantec migrated existing Symantec Desktop Encryption bundles to their individual respective component products on a 1:1 ratio. This migration happened automatically for customers with current maintenance contracts and no action is required on your behalf.
Our bundles included the ability to run Symantec Drive Encryption as part of their functionality. This capability has been rolled into the new Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11 license and as part of this migration, as a bundle customer, you are now entitled to this license at no additional cost.
For more information on Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11 and its migration, see http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO101492
Additionally, each component product now includes Symantec Encryption Management Server as part of its license, again, at no additional cost. You continue to have the option to run in managed or unmanaged environments, which you select when you download your software.
The remaining maintenance term for the Symantec Encryption Desktop bundle will be mapped to the corresponding component product maintenance. When your existing maintenance expires, your encryption bundle will instead have maintenance renewed for each component product separately.
How to Use Additional Licenses
Given the additional entitlements and migrations on a 1:1 ratio, you may have more licenses than you originally needed. You may:
Purchasing Additional Licenses
Please note that no products were discontinued in this process and you may continue to run your existing implementation with no change if you so choose. Our previous bundle licenses however, will no longer be available for purchase. Customers looking to add licenses should purchase the required individual component products.
Obtaining Encryption Software
All migrated customers should have received a serial number for each individual component product in their previous bundle. Each serial number can be inserted into FileConnect in order to access the individual product’s download page. If you have not received the notification with serial numbers for FileConnect, contact Customer Care at: http://www.symantec.com/support/assistance_care.jsp
Obtain Software from FileConnect
Go to FileConnect at https://fileconnect.symantec.com and enter your serial number found in your version upgrade email, then click Submit Serial Number.
The next screen provides you with the link to download the associated software. Following is an example for customers who need to access File Share Encryption.
After you click the link to select the product, the subsequent screens include download instructions and file access to both managed and unmanaged versions of your software.
