Symantec Endpoint Encryption Manager reports HTTP status 404

Issue/Introduction

Clients cannot communicate with the manager (SEEMS). Clients report a 404 error.

Symptoms

• SEEMS and SEE Clients cannot communicate. Navigation to http://:/GECommunicationWS.asmx results in 404 error page. IIS error 404 2 1260 seen in IIS logs
• In the manager on the Framework Installation Settings - Communciation page, you receive an error:
  
  Invalid Server Location. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.
  
  
  

Cause

ASP.net v2.0 is not installed or allowed in IIS

Resolution

- Verify ASP.NET v2.0 is installed in Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > Application Server.
- Verify ASP.NET v2.0 is allowed in IIS Administrator>Web Service Extensions
