MAC OS X creates .DS_Store files for OS X Finder's use.  When browsing network shares, Finder will leave .DS_Srore files on the network share to utilize as a cache of the folder's contents.  The .DS_Store files being in the installation and tomcat/packages directories caused the conflict.

Delete .DS_Store and other hidden OS X files from the installation folders and the tomcat/packages directory.  Hidden files on Mac OS X, Unix, and Linux operating systems start with a dot.  Once these files are removed the problem will be resolved.
When downloading SEP installation files extract the files on a Windows machine.  If you are extracting the files on a Mac, do not browse the extracted files to keep the .DS_Store files from being created.
To help keep this issue from happening you can follow the Apple document listed below to disable creating these .DS_Store files on network shares.
