Issue/Introduction

  • You have initiated the auto-upgrade process for a specific group in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM).
  • During the process, you would like to suspend the auto-upgrade for any reason on one of those clients.

Resolution

Stop the Autoupgrade process when clients have already received the upgrade schedule

  1. Replace the installation package in the group you intended to upgrade with a package that has the same or a previous version from the client versions in that group.
    • No schedule is required.

Stop the Autoupgrade process for clients that have not checked in since it was added you can use either method

  1. Remove the installation package from the group you intended to upgrade.
  2. Change permissions on the following folders to disallow access by SYSTEM

%programfiles%\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\outbox\agent\{Group ID}\Config.xml

Note: Several errors will be logged in the Windows Event Logs using method #2

Technical Information

You can confirm that a client has received the upgrade schedule by checking in the Config.xml file in the client program folder.

(example C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Config\config.xml).

This file will show the download window and version assigned for the upgrade.
