SEP 12 SBE clients have a large impact on the performance of the workstations. What settings are available in the Protection Center to reduce the performance impact of SEP?
After the SEP installation, the clients are slower and have reduced reaction times.
Symantec Endpoint Protection is monitoring all file I/O (opens, writes, modifications, etc...) and depending on file activity, system performance might be impacted.
If there are certain applications that write to a particular file or directory heavily, that file or folder can be excluded from AutoProtect scanning by configuring the AntiVirus Antispyware policy, and adding a file or folder exclusion. There is also an option to scan by file type (extension), so certain file types can be added/removed from scanning.
Note: Most tuning options are included in the "Virus and Spyware policy - High Performance" - policy.
