Issue/Introduction

You want to learn how to provide secure email delivery with the Messaging Gateway using Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates.

Resolution

1. Install a CA signed TLS certificate.
   • To install a TLS certificate, reference Requesting a Certificate Authority signed certificate and Importing a Certificate Authority signed certificate.
2. Assign the TLS certificate to the scanner.
   • To assign the certificate to an MTA connector, see Assigning an MTA TLS certificate to a Scanner.
3. Optionally enable opportunistic TLS delivery
   • To attempt TLS for the delivery of all messages, reference Enable opportunistic TLS for delivery of all email messages.

Additional Information

To enforce TLS to and from a specific external domain, use Enforce TLS connections inbound from and outbound to a specific domain.
