Issue/Introduction

Learn how to provide secure email delivery with Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) using Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates.

Resolution

1. Install a CA signed TLS certificate.
   1. To install a TLS certificate, reference Requesting a Certificate Authority signed certificate and Importing a Certificate Authority signed certificate.
2. Assign the TLS certificate to the scanner.
   1. To assign the certificate to an MTA connector, see Assigning an MTA TLS certificate to a Scanner.
3. Optionally enable opportunistic TLS delivery
   1. To attempt TLS for the delivery of all messages, reference Enable opportunistic TLS for delivery of all email messages.

Additional Information

To enforce TLS to and from a specific external domain, use Enforce TLS connections inbound from and outbound to a specific domain.
