Issue/Introduction

When booting up and signing into a new account the following error message is presented:

"Symantec cmc smc encountered a problem and needed to close"

Symptoms
Both Network Threat Protection and Windows firewall are installed at the same time.

Cause

Both Network Threat Protection and Windows firewall are installed at the same time.

Resolution

Decide which firewall, Windows or Symantec you want to use, and uninstall the other. Make sure to reboot the computer after uninstalling.
